Joseph Pilates, a legendary trainer, developed the technique in the 1920’s. His methodology, later coined “Pilates,” is a unique training program based on the principle that both body and mind must work in unison to achieve optimum fitness.

Its fundamental purpose is to strengthen the “powerhouse” – the area between the sternum and hips. Comprised of abdominal and back muscles, the powerhouse is essential to balance, movement, and posture.

Pilates involves a series of precise exercises performed in a specific order and designed to improve muscle tone, flexibility, and balance. Each movement is in harmony with a breathing pattern, effectively uniting body and mind.
